Dever cívico

Andámos a fazer tanta inveja ao pessoal, dizendo que iamos assitir ao concerto de Third Day, que agora sinto o dever cívico de contar como foi:

3 em 1: Jars of Clay, a seguir Switchfoot e por fim, Third Day. Integrado na Tour "Music Builds" a favor da "Habitat for Humanity".

Jars of Clay já tiveram melhores dias.. o som não estava muito bom e tirando um ou dois clássicos, não foi nada de especial(já fui grande fã de Jars, em tempos).

Switchfoot (vencedores dos 2008 Dove Awards)foram, sem dúvida os que mais se manifestaram em relação ao consumismo americano, gritando:

"Nothing you can sell me can make me happy!"
A redenção do descartável e fútil, busca por ID e perdão sempre presentes.

(O Jon em palco tem um estilo muito relax.. soa-me a uma mistura de Cold Play e Our Lady Peace, uma das minhas favs bands de todos os tempos.. mas isso agora são outras conversas.)

Ok, Third Day, não é todos os dias que um comum mortal pode assistir a um vocalista inspirado como Mac Powell.. é realmente o que me faz gostar de Third Day há tantos anos, apesar de não fazer o meu género..

A parte de Third Day que me fez "parar" foi quando tocaram para os Gomers* o Thief. A letra é sobre a cruxificação de Jesus Cristo do ponto de vista de um outro condenado, cruxificado ao seu lado. As vezes que cantavamos isto em casa ao piano!

*Gomers: nome dos fãs de Third Day. Nos concertos da banda, os Gomers vestem-se de cor-de-laranja para serem fácilmente reconhecidos do palco pela banda.
Na Bíblia, Gômer é o nome da esposa infiel do profeta Oséias. Não interessa quantas vezes Gomer deixasse Oséias, este sempre a salvaria quando ela estivesse em dificuldades.
